Color Throwdown Challenge

Here's my take on the color combination for the Color Throwdown Challenge. The paper is all from "The Old World Stack" from DCWV. The lettering is from some foam letters I got on clearance from Wal-Mart. I love to go through the clearance sections of the craft aisles and then stock up on the good deals.

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge card

I played around with this card for a while before I was happy enough with the results to enter this in the CAS-ual Fridays challenge.  I love to use this stamp from Art Goes Wild. The papers are from the Recollections Bold Paper pack and the sentiment is one of my favorite alphabet sets from Close to My Heart.

Well, I got a lot accomplished yesterday. Car repaired, emission inspection complete, car tag purchased, grocery store trip, supper cooked, and then finally a trip to the pool with the family followed up with a run over to Pasta Bella to share some great desserts. I worked on this card this morning and after starting and rejecting quite a few ideas, I finally finished this card for the
Flutter By Wednesday challenge.

Green paper - Summer Garden from Recollections
striped paper- Bold Basics from Recollections
For the butterflies, I first stamped them on the white cardstock using "Sapphire" #100 from Marvy Le Plume II. Then I stamped them again on a separate sheet, colored them with watercolor pencils "Blossom" from Recollections and "Lavender" from General's Kimberly. After a waterbrush wash, I cut them out and attached with thick double-sided adhesive. I used the double-sided adhesive to also attached the plaid and white paper and the sentiment. The sentiment was created in Photoshop and the circles were purchased on a clearance sale!

Word Art Wednesday

So here is my first contest entry and let me tell you, the scripture couldn't be more appropriate for me. I try not to worry, but I can be one of those people who worry about worrying. The scripture this week for Word Art Wednesday is from Philippians 4 and Paul tells us to "Be anxious for nothing...". What a great comfort to focus on daily. Here is the card I created to show this scripture. I was thinking about the scripture in Matthew 6 and Luke 12 where Jesus tells us to consider the lilies of the field who do not toil or spin and yet the Lord takes perfect care of them. The flowers on my card aren't lilies, but they are some beautiful digital flowers from Pixel Scrapper that I have stacked together to create a pretty arrangement.

Well, I've spent practically the whole morning looking at other people's blogs and challenges for the week. I think I have some good ideas for a couple of the challenges, but now I have to get started on working on them. I made this card last week because I wanted to use some of my pretty purple paper.

Getting Started

I started a blog as a way to share the cards and papers that I've created. I'm a teacher/technology specialist so this summer I've decided to see if this is something I want to pursue as more than just dabbling. I took some classes in April at Rubber Stamp Fantasy on the Square in Marietta, Georgia and reconnected with the fun and addictions of stamping. Here's my favorite card that we made in the class led by Nathalie Metivier from Magenta Designs.
